ReplyDeletewhat's eating Gilbert Grape is a good movie....
ReplyDeleteAnd also the book handle with care (Jodi picult) would probably go under the medical one?
DeleteI love this movie! Leo is amazing in it!
Deletesame wohooo
ReplyDeleteWhy did u mention what's eating gilbert grape? is that on the movie list?
ReplyDeletebecause we can pick our own movies to watch or books to read if it's not on the list
DeleteI watched "I am Sam" on the weekend. What a great movie!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI cry every time. It never fails
DeleteI guess if more than one of us critiques the same movie/book, our opinions could be interestingly different!
ReplyDeleteHi, guys! I saw this really great movie called 'Front of the class' on TV about Brad Cohen, he was diagnosed with tourettes syndrome and struggeled to become a very inspiring teacher. However it is a Hallmark Hall of Fame Movie made for tv, so you might have to go to the library to get your hands on a copy but I would really recomend watching it even if you don't choose it for your project, I found it very inspiring. There is also a book 'Fornt of the class' by Brad Cohen if you would prefer.
ReplyDeleteand here is the link for the Brad Cohen foundation if you are interested in looking at it http://www.bradcohentourettefoundation.com/
check it out he is pretty cool!
I have just stumbbled across an amazing, heart warming story called "The folded napkin...a truckers story" It's about a young boy with Down Syndrome. A must read, have some kleenex ready!! Type in the title and it will come up......
ReplyDeleteyou can read the story and about it's origin here http://www.snopes.com/glurge/stevie.asp
DeleteI wish our world was like that...
I have thought of a good name for the blog...."Box of Chocolates" and we could use the quote from Forest Gump on the home page "Life is like a box of chocolates, you don't know what your going to get" what do you think??
ReplyDeleteI like it Angela
Deletelove it!
DeleteGreat idea!
DeleteGreat idea Angela. Debbie had an idea too (hope you don't mind my posting it)...Fireflies in the Classroom. The idea is that every student has 'light' that attracts 'light' - we just have to look for it.
ReplyDeleteLots of amazing ideas for books and movies. Be sure that the main character has a recognizable 'disability' or 'disorder' in order to complete the critique.
Sandy
Is the movie I posted about acceptable?
DeleteYes Brianna. It sounds great. Do you know which category Tourette's Syndrome falls under?
ReplyDeleteI don't know in what category it would fit under, in regards to the seven categories we are focusing on. I tried looking Tourette's Syndrome up and could not get a clear sense of where it sits. In our text book it is under neurological disabilities, and I know it is often accompanied by a behaviour.
ReplyDeleteIt actually fits best under Behaviour Disorders.
Deletecan we do something about gifted people?
